Word Block: Order was a semester-long art project, which started off as an exploration of language. With my fascination with how language changes a person’s perception, I came to bring the texts onto a physical plane to bring a literal “change in perspective”. The effect was achieved through an anamorphic format. It forces the audience to a position if they choose to decipher what would be fragments of unrecognizable shapes otherwise.

To push the project further, I’ve decided to create a site-specific anamorphic text. Since I wanted to find a location where I could physically and realistically visit, I walked around the Chicago Loop and found an opportunity at the Trump Tower. The infamous and controversial building posed a perfect opportunity in form and context. Because letters from the tower completed the words (virtually) placed on the walls of Jewelers Row, it had also given the words socio-political subtext.
